Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated cleaner with experience in power tooling within a shipyard setting. The ideal candidate should be capable of standing for long periods and working in tight spaces. This role involves using grinders, drills, and other pneumatic tools to ensure thorough cleaning and maintenance of various ship components.
Responsibilities
High-pressure washing of decks, hulls, and machinery.
Cleaning and scrubbing interior tanks and compartments.
Removing grease, grime, and other contaminants from surfaces.
Vacuuming dust and debris from confined spaces.
Applying cleaning chemicals according to safety protocols.
Polishing metal fixtures and surfaces.
Entering tanks and voids to clean thoroughly.
Performing atmospheric testing before entering confined spaces.
Following proper safety procedures for confined space entry.
Moving materials, tools, and/or equipment.
Cleaning equipment, vehicles, machinery, and work areas.
Operating various types of tools such as pneumatic, electric, and hand tools.
Brush roll or hand brush painting.
Assisting blasters by pulling hoses, mucking tanks, and removing grit.
Essential Skills
Previous power tooling experience in a shipyard setting.
Ability to stand for long periods.
Experience working in tight spaces.
Proficiency with grinders, drills, and other pneumatic tools.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
